Pokemon Adventures Come To The Wii

Nintendo has announced a new Pokémon action-adventure game for the Wii, launching on the 9th July.

In this latest adventure, players are placed firmly in the shoes of Pikachu — or at least, they would be, were he to wear any. The game takes place in the Poképark, which I can only imagine is like Alton Towers, but with Squirtles and Charmanders instead of baseball cap-clad youths.

To give the game its full title, PokéPark Wii: Pikachu’s Adventure is the first ever Pokémon adventure title to hit the Wii, and will immerse you into “a deep and engaging action adventure story”.

Taking a leaf out of the book of Sonic (or Alton Towers), there are various imaginatively named ‘Zones’ in the Poképark, including Beach Zone, Iceberg Zone, Lava Zone and Haunted Zone. In each zone is a variety of attractions with its own minigame to waggle and shake your Wiimote to. With such classics as Rhyperior’s Bumper Burn, Bulbasaur’s Daring Dash, Salamence’s Air Ace, Venusaur’s Vine Swing, and Gyarados’ Aqua Dash, there’s plenty of fun for all the family.

Pikachu isn’t the only playable Pokémon in the game however, and as you progress through you can befriend others along the way and play as them, allowing “a wealth of possibilities to make strategic use of different Pokémon’s specific strengths”

I guess they still haven’t made that Pokémon RPG using Final Fantasy X’s engine then. Still, check out the trailer below:

PokéPark Wii: Pikachu’s Adventure is out on the 9th July, exclusively for the Wii.
