MotorStorm Apocalypse Announced

Sony Computer Entertainment has officially announced Motorstorm Apocalypse.

The end of the world is here and it’s only just beginning. Drivers will be “ripping up Monument Valley, obliterating everything in their path on The Island and surviving the chilling temperatures of the Arctic, the multimillion selling franchise is back – and this time it hits The City,” all this as that said City, is collapsing around you. This will be much more than just a race, with crumbling buildings and collapsing road, this will be some of the most intense urban-racing ever. There will also be a battle element to the races with infantry trying to alter the outcome of the race.

“Pick your vehicle from one of 13 classes, including supercars, muscle cars, superbikes, and even choppers, then choose one of 40 unique races while looters and military contractors fight for what is left of the city. No track is ever the same as you endure hundreds of explosive real-time dynamic events in the most unpredictable and spectacular races of your life.”

This high-octane sequel will come with a story-driven single player experience, where you play one of three characters (each representing a different difficulty level) “as they experience the insane urban festival from unique perspectives, and finally get to learn more about the crazy crew behind each MotorStorm festival”; and an equally explosive multiplayer portion, bringing 4 player split-screen and 16 player online. A Game Mode Creator will allow players to create your own custom race types with unique triggered events and rules to upload and share them online.

Motorstorm Apocalypse is due out 2011, exclusively for PlayStation 3.
