Ubisoft has announced yesterday that they are set to develop a motion-controlled interactive performance-based game inspired by the king of pop himself, Michael Jackson.
Like some kind of illegitimate love child of Dance Central and SingStar, players will be thrown into the shoes of the man himself, imitating his dance moves, whilst singing along to many of his most famous hits such as Beat It, Billie Jean and I’ve Got a Brand New Combine Harvester (OK, that last one may have been a lie).
Michael Jackson Estate Co-Executor, John McClain (not to be confused with Bruce Willis), has said,
No artist can energize a dance floor in the spirit of fun like Michael Jackson. His God-given gifts for music and dance are something new generations of fans will appreciate even more. This game is a natural extension of what he would be doing today to raise his artistry to even greater heights for his fans of all generations. It is a game that the entire family can experience and enjoy together and this is something that would please Michael tremendously.
That does paint something of a picture of Grandad getting his Jacko-groove on whilst Mum sings a soprano version of Bad. Still, if they can pull it off, it has the potential to be a great party game.
The game will be released on Xbox360, PS3 and Wii, and will use the motion control devices associated with each platform (Kinetic, Move, and er… controller), although exactly how has yet to be specified. A handheld version has also been confirmed for the PSP and Nintendo DS.
The currently unnamed Michael Jackson perform-em-up will be available for Holiday 2010.
