At Sony’s press briefing at E3, a huge list of exclusive content has emerged for the PS3.
First up in the exclusivity role call was Medal of Honour (or ‘Honor’ if you’re that way inclined – I’m not), a partnership between EA LA and DICE, who are developing the multiplayer side of things. PS3 exclusive: a remastered version of MoH: Frontline will be included with the game. Everyone loves a two-for-one.
Next came Dead Space 2, much to every-one’s delight. Sporting a new action-based look and looking thoroughly terrifying enjoyable, the game’s cinematography and scale have both improved on the first. Ps3 exclusive: With the game will come a copy of Dead Space: Extraction (presumably not just a Wii disc; that might be a little disappointing). It will also support Move, which is pretty inherently exclusive.
Third in was an interruption to the regular schedule by a certain computerised lady-voice. I am of course talking about that of GLaDOS, the brilliantly sadistic AI featured in Portal. That’s right, Portal 2 is coming to PS3, announced Gabe Newell onstage, eating more than a thin slice of humble pie at his previous nay-sayings regarding Sony’s machine, thanking them for “not punching him in the face.” PS3 exclusive: details were a little thin on the ground, but Gabe did state that it will have Steam features that “will make the PS3 version of Portal 2 the best version on any console.”
Next came Final Fantasy XIV, which looks very pretty in a Final Fantasy sort of way. PS3 exclusive: not much was said about it, and it can’t be said to be a true exclusive as it will release on both PS3 and PC.
Then was Mafia II. Ps3 exclusive: day 1 exclusive content, comprising of “loads of new missions and hours of additional arcade gameplay.”
And finally came Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood. Ps3 exclusive: an exclusive pack of missions only available on the PS3 and the multiplayer beta will be PS3 only too.
Mr Tretton finished, “Exclusive has become my new favourite word.” Yes Jack, ours too!
