The main features of Firmware 3.40 have been detailed by Sony.
With the release of PlayStation Plus tomorrow, the bulk of the updates revolve around that, however, Sony aren’t skimping out just yet. In addition to PlayStation Plus, a new networked based photo sharing feature will be available on the Photo Gallery, allowing users to upload, browse and comment on photos on Facebook and Picasa; a Video Editor and Uploader, a new Five Star Rating system for content on the PlayStation Store and additional Power Save Settings. This is before you include the further Facebook integration.
Obviously, PlayStation Plus is the main feature to be introduced, allowing users the choice to purchase a new premium subscription service on the PlayStation Network. Subscribers will gain access to a variety of free games every month, special offers, exclusive content, full game trails and automatic downloads. The service will be released tomorrow for the tidy sum of £39.99 for a year.

I’m interested to see what the video editor is like, not sure how you get video on there in the first place – will it just be stuff from the Eye?
Apparently it doesn’t work on video that is put onto your console, so I’d assume the Eye. If you can edit footage that you export from games, that could be great.
I’ve not checked but I thought it worked on any video files on your hdd, unless they were put on there prior to you installing 3.40.
If this is the case then to answer your question keva you need to use a media server like ps3mediaserver to copy video files form your pc to your ps3 or use a USB stick.
