With each passing day, the worldwide excitement for E3 increases exponentially – see this graph proves it. Anyway, as with last year, we like to decide on our Most Anticipated games before we see what E3 has to offer, then once E3 is done and dusted, we’ll revisit our lists with a post-E3 selection to see what has changed. Unsurprisingly, several titles pop up more than once as they look just that damn good. Take a look below for each of our most wanted titles:
David Howard

- Battlefield 3 – What’s there to debate? The gameplay trailers were mind-blowing and the most exciting footage for a shooter since the infamous Killzone 2 trailer.
- Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception – As a huge fan of the first two, the third already looks to steal the year. It’ll be interesting to see how it improves but it’s difficult to see anything other than a mammoth hit.
- Batman: Arkham City – The prequel was a bit of a sleeper hit but Arkham City will not take people by surprise. If it’s anything like the original then Rocksteady are already onto a winner.
- Bioshock Infinite – A massive fan of Bioshock and its universe, the initial sightings of Infinite are hugely intriguing.
- Hitman Absolution - Hitman was one of those games that I could just play over and over when I was younger. Nostalgia alone fuels my desire for Absolution.
Ryan Martin

- Mass Effect 3 – We’ve joined Shepard across two games already, with this said to be the conclusion of his story. Not only that but, with some rumoured new features such as space battles, it sounds as if it’ll be the best yet. We may also get the reveal of the face behind the Quarian mask.
- Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Bethesda games have always had their problems and Oblivion was no different but it is still one of the best RPGs on current consoles with a great mythology and interesting races/characters. Skyrim looks to improve upon the graphics, gameplay and it has dragons!
- Batman: Arkham City – Arkham Asylum was a great game and adding in an open world structure with 15 hours of side missions can’t be a bad thing can it? Didn’t think so.
- Final Fantasy XIII-2 – Final Fantasy XIII wasn’t the most popular title among fans of the series but it was still a great game. It had a brilliant story and the new battle system was a nice change. I personally can’t wait to find out more about Claire and hopefully she brings the whole gang back.
- Assassin’s Creed Revelations – I know, it’s Ezio again but is that really a bad thing? The Assassin’s Creed games have always had an immersive and interesting story with great conspiracies added in. If they can improve upon Brotherhood like it did upon the Ezio’s first outing, it will be yet another fantastic title.

- Battlefield 3 – I loved 1942 and the trailer shows yet more leaps in visuals, sound and animation. The experience DICE will have picked up from the previous Bad Company titles together with the extensive vehicles (seen in 1942 and Modern Combat) could well make this the best shooter ever…
- Batman Arkham City – More villains, more freedom, more stealth and combat… you can’t help but drool over it. A sequel to the best superhero game ever made, promising more of what made it the best in the first place. Sweet.
- Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception - This series is now as big to Sony as Metal Gear Solid or Gran Turismo. It is their ace in the hole and the first two are pure Hollywood. The characters, the story and a damn unique multiplayer experience in the second… if Carling made games – they’d just clone Uncharted.
- Saints Row The Third – So much fun was to be had in the second, with extensive customisation, tonnes of vehicles and perhaps one of the most insane and brilliant co-op offerings this gen. The third promises better – and that means epicness.
- Hitman Absolution – It has been far too long since Hitman whacked someone. With the last Hitman being a HD version of last gens Blood Money, we need a Hitman equipped for the current gen. I am really hyped to see where the latest consoles and tech can improve AI behaviour around agent 47s notorious disguising and stealth. How nice will those Silver Ballers look this gen has to be top of the curiosity list.

- Batman: Arkham City – The original was a complete and utter surprise. It made games about superheroes creditable for once. Early videos show more gadgetry in use and a far bigger world. Should be epic to see gameplay.
- Bioshock Infinite – I saw a recent hands-on that described a time travelling aspect and that the girl in the teaser trailer has something to do with it. This could be not only the prettiest FPS for a long time, but also one of the more interesting. More Bioshock than Bioshock 2.
- Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – We knew that this was going to be huge when it was first announced, and boy do the enhancements look fantastic on paper. Really want to see this in action, hoping its worth all the hype.
- The Last Guardian – I’ve waited several years for more news about this, and all I get are screenshots and character filler. If Team Ico don’t show it here, they must show it at TGS. Otherwise I might actually tear my hair out!
- Lylat Wars 3D – If the words “Do a Barrell Roll!” or “Can’t let you do that, Star Fox” get you as giddy as it does me, imagine the prospect of it all with buildings flashing past your face. This needs to be a playable demo rather than another video on the 3DS.

- Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – I doubt you’ll find an RPG fan who didn’t love Oblivion and I’m no exception! With the improvements that have already been unveiled for Skyrim, a new region to explore and the allure of Dragons, how could I not be excited?
- FIFA 12 – I’ve owned every FIFA game since the Mega Drive and I will certainly be getting this one! The new impact engine looks fantastic. What more can I say other than I love FIFA?
- Batman: Arkham City – Rocksteady took a licensed superhero and did the impossible, they made a good game, nay, a great game. With Arkham City looking bigger, badder and better, this new Batman title is shaping up to be one of the best superhero games yet.
- Final Fantasy XIII-2 – After the somewhat underwhelming XIII, Square Enix have the chance to take the admittedly awesome universe of FF XIII, its great battle system and its awesome graphics and make a better game with a better story. Here’s hoping they do!
- Battlefield 3 – As a self-proclaimed Bad Company 2 expert and a total graphics whore, I can’t help but foam at the mouth when I see Battlefield 3 in action. Sure, Modern Warfare 3 will sell more, but I have a feeling Battlefield 3 will be the leading shooter this year.
How about you? What games are you most looking forward to at the moment?

You want to see Skyrim in action Dave? There was this a few months back http://mediakick.org/2011/02/24/first-in-game-skyrim-footage/
When I say “in action”, I mean someone playing it through in real time. Not a trailer.
I thought so but still, it’s nice to see what the game will actually look like
Interesting: mine two would be F1 2011 and madden 12. For some reason, not a single one of the games you guys listed makes me excited but maybe E3 will change that
*my two…that’s what you get for commenting on a phone
Then you’re a damn fool
Mine would definitely be Skyrim and Mass Effect 3 (although I haven’t played ME 2 yet – I’m still playing the first one). I remember when I first got Oblivion and my sleeping pattern was reduced to about 4 hours in the early morning. I don’t think I’ve ever been so addicted to a game.
I love FF, but XIII had me disappointed. It was too linear and the battle system, which I thought was excellent, was still trumped by Star Ocean: The Last Hope.
I would like to see a more open game in XIII-2. I am definitely one of the “bring back the world map” supporters. Alternatively, FFXII and the planet Elicoor II from Star Ocean 3 had very nice alternative open-world systems without an old school world map.
The Uncharted series is one of those things that I just can’t get excited about for some reason. Don’t get me wrong, when I’m playing I can’t put it down and I’m convinced it’s the best series on PS3. The problem is that I don’t look forward to picking it back up again. I’ve no idea why.
Oh, and Final Fantasy vs XIII.
