PSone Emulations Set For SCEE Release

Sony has revealed that US and Japanese PSone emulations are being prepared for release on SCEE (European) PlayStation stores.

Whilst concrete titles or dates for the aforementioned are yet to be announced, we do understand that publishers who own the rights to PSone titles that were previously only available in the US and/or Japan, will now have the opportunity to apply for an SCEE PlayStation store release.

The as of yet unannounced titles will come with either English or Japanese language game content when available, will run at 60Hz and will arrive on your PlayStation Store as long as they pass certain criteria set by each region’s ratings board.

This also allows publishers to cut certain corners – for example if a PAL version of a game does not pass the set criteria, but an NTSC version is already available in SCEA or SCEJ, then Sony can look at publishing that version instead.
