Every year, in its closing stages, we gather our thoughts, preferences and opinions to select those games that stood out amongst the rest. With hundreds of releases this year alone, narrowing that wide spectrum of choices down to the very best is always challenging. Everyone has their favourites, with that particular game you’ll remember for years to come; well now is the time to tell the world. As we did last year, we want you, our community, to vote on your favourite games of 2011 so we can define the cream of the crop for yet another year.
That’s right, it’s time for MediaKick’s 2011 Game of the Year Nominations.
Having selected some of the finest releases for a variety of categories, we want you to vote for which one you think deserves to win that particular category. We have console exclusive, genre based, and a couple of other categories, plus the overall one to crown the almighty game of 2011.
This year is a little different though, it’s grander, fancier and well, took a lot more work on my part. Last year we used a very simple form, which, whilst it served its purpose, it was rather… ugly. So I’d like to introduce you to our Game of the Year voting portal. Simply go there, select your winners and vote – it couldn’t be simpler.

Voting closes on Friday December 16, 2011 at 23:59 (GMT), so be sure to get your votes in by then.
Additionally, as an extra incentive, we have a fantastic prize for you to win. We’re calling it our Christmas Prize Pack as the final contents have yet to be confirmed, but it will certainly contain a PlayStation 3 copy of both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Saints Row: The Third – you can expect a bunch of other swag inside and perhaps a couple of extra games. Additional Terms & Conditions below.
You must vote in at least five categories before you can submit your email for entry, but each vote will count as an extra entry; so the more you vote, the better chance you have of winning.
After the closing date, we’ll have a selection of articles to reveal the winners of each category, plus some wise words from the MediaKick team, before capping of the week before Christmas with our very own Staff Game of the Year. We’ll also pick and announce a winner of the Christmas Prize Pack during that week, who will be contacted via the email address submitted.
So what are you waiting for? Get voting!
Terms & conditions.
This competition is open to the whole of Europe. The contents of the pack is subject to change, however, the inclusion of the two already mentioned games, and their platforms, is final. Both the already included games are promo copies, but do some with online passes. One prize draw entry per user, any others will be discarded. Entrants must be over the age of 18 due to the age rating of the games included. There are no cash alternatives. This is your responsibility and yours alone, MediaKick accepts no responsibility for any prize items delivered to anyone who has not been honest about their age. If the email provided does not heed a response within seven days of being contacted, then that user forfeits their prize and a new winner will be selected. By entering this competition you agree to these Terms & Conditions as well as our general Terms & Conditions.

The hardest one for me was 2012/Most anticipated game, got there in the end though!
Found it difficult to choose between Deus Ex and Skyrim for Multiplatform, Skyrim was already my choice for RPG and GOTY so I went with Deus Ex.
Little Big Planet 2 got a few of my votes! Just really enjoyed the game.
Voted Skyrim for most of them. I voted Portal 2 for best audio, not for the music but for the best dialogue I have ever experienced in a game. Only it’s short story mode stopped me from voting it for any of the other awards.
Looking at those nominations, it was a good year for gaming this year – sure, a lot of the games were continuations of franchises, but I think the quality of the games was still there. Happy to give my vote to Catherine, certainly an interesting experience if nothing else! Far more to look forward to in 2012 than I remembered, it’s a good time to be a gamer.
Your VOTE button doesn’t work. Nothing happens when I click it. I’ve tried under Firefox 3 & Safari 3.
Only you and one other have had problems with the Vote button. I’m sorry but I don’t know why that is, are you able to try on Chrome or IE for comparison? Also, what OS are you running?
Mac OS 10.4. I cannot run Chrome or IE.
I’m at a loss, sorry dude.
If you want to email me your votes and email at davs [at] mediakick [dot] org, I’ll enter them manually for you.
It’s working. I was confused. I thought I was supposed to go to this page
goty.mediakick.org and click the big VOTE button to bring up a voting page. I see now that I’m supposed to click each section from the bar on the left, then VOTE there. Which works fine.
