Ambitious PS3/PS Vita Game Ruin Is Now Known As Warrior’s Lair

Sometimes, we hear of games having project names that sometimes go ahead and change their names for a commercial release. Occasionally there are some really cool sounding project names that go ahead and pick something utterly generic as the final title. This is almost one of those occasions, as while Ruin’s new title of “Warrior’s Lair” isn’t entirely bad, it is a little generic.

Having said that, it does seem more true with part of the core gameplay. As you storm through enemy lairs, you can encounter various other players along the way and directly affect their experience. This could be by assisting them, hindering their progress, or just downright murdering them! It is always up to you and even complete strangers are fair game.

There have been plenty of screenshots in a previous post, but the most promising thing about this game is the interaction between both versions. As this video shows, the major hook is the ability to save your progress on the PlayStation 3, pick up your PlayStation Vita, and carry on from where you left off. The same also happens the other way around, meaning that the “Remote Play” function has been fully utilised for both devices.

While I personally think Ruin was the far better name for the game; Warrior’s Lair is definitely on my watch-list for the PS Vita because it is essentially a rather cool looking Action RPG. It feels like a console version of Diablo, which is never a bad thing. No word on if we should expect this in time for the PS Vita launch, but it is expected to be released simultaneously on both PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.
