Capcom Profits Halved As Sales Down By More Than A Quarter

Boy oh boy, what a downbeat day this has been. If it’s not Sony posting massive losses, or THQ laying off their staff, it’s GAME facing some truly difficulty times ahead. Not wanting to be left out of the financial turmoil, Capcom has waded in with the report for the nine months ending December 31, 2011. However, the company was at least still making a profit.

The publisher has revealed a 52.6% drop in profits year-on-year, including a sales shrinkage of 29%. This has seen profits drop from £56.6 million (¥3,242 million) down to £26.9 million (¥6,836 million), with sales dropping from £587.7 million (¥70,773 million) to £416.7 million (¥50,270 million).

With regards to specific games, Monster Hunter Tri (G) was highlighted as a core seller in Japan having topped a million units, whilst Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Dead Rising 2: Off the Record did well abroad.
