New Digital Videogame Magazine Heading To iPad

Do you miss the good ol’ days when time was more precious? When you could gather information at your leisure without the time constraints of the modern-day? Well, unfortunately, that’s not going to go away any time soon. In a world where time is a valuable commodity, and information becomes out of date in mere hours let alone days, the magazine world has struggled. Struggled to keep up with the fast-paced stream of information on the web, struggled to get their product into the hands of their customers. However, the uptake of digital magazines and ebooks has been remarkable, offering a new outlet for content. Yet we’re still waiting for a digital magazine, designed for the digital world – rather than just a recreation of the old model.

Enter the NextAxis. From our good friends at Oscar Mike Media, comes a brand new digital magazine about the pastime we all love and cherish – videogames. Heading to the iPad, the editorial-led magazine plans to bring a strong focus on intelligent opinion and in-depth critique of videogames and the associated culture, whilst being smart and funny with beautiful design and an engaging interactive element.

“Digital magazines are at a very exciting point in the medium’s development,” said Managing Director of Oscar Mike Media Ltd, Peter Chapman. “We now have an infrastructure, platforms and subscription models that I think can provide a perfect breeding ground for a genuinely exciting new way to access content. Tablets allow for a unique user experience and we hope to make every page of NextAxis a joy, not simply because of its content or design but because of how enjoyable and natural it is to use.”

This won’t be your typical scanned in digital magazine, this will be “finely tailored” to the medium, with the aim of reaching a wide audience at an affordable price.

Interested? I sure am – heck, I’m already involved. But if you want to get involved, they are currently taking freelance pitches so be sure to check it out more via their website.

A confirmed price has yet to be announced, and the first issue is set to be release in the first quarter of the year.
