The Old Republic Hits 1.7 Million Active Subscribers

There was plenty of scepticism and worry prior to the release of Star Wars: The Old Republic, however, it seems that was all misplaced. EA has announced that it has sold 2 million copies of the MMO since its release at the back of December, attracting 1.7 million active subscribers in the process.

Impressive figures for sure, especially as the game’s only been out for around five weeks. Unique daily log-ins stand around a million per day currently, with the average playtime being approximately four hours per day. Additionally, the publisher highlighted that, aside from scheduled maintenance, its servers have remained up for 99.5% of the time – some achievement for a popular MMO.

Bioware must be chuffed as to the initial success of the popular title, having seen the title begin to cement itself as a real MMO contender in these early days.
