PSN Accounts To Become SEN Accounts Next Week

PlayStation Network accounts are set to be renamed Sony Entertainment Network accounts.

An email is doing the rounds to all users with a PSN account to inform the of the change. Effective February 8, SEN accounts will be a change in name only and require no input from users at all.

“This transition is based on Sony’s goal to enhance its unique digital entertainment offering,” read Sony’s email. “As a series of these activities Sony started last September, PlayStation Network will be aligned with “Sony Entertainment Network”. This helps us get closer to our goal of establishing a global comprehensive network platform of services across games, movies, music and more, all accessible from one convenient account.”

Essentially, it’s a more sensible way of having Sony logins, to use a universal one – named as such – rather than a PlayStation Network account for other Sony services.

Additionally, we can expect a software update for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita on the same day, presumably to enforce this new change at the very least.
