Since its reveal all those years ago, fans have been waiting for many years now for the followup to the fantastically popular Diablo series, myself included! I know that when it finally does release, this will be a game I will be purchasing day one, without question! Heck, I even got a new laptop just to run the game! There’s just one problem…
Blizzard have so far been pretty tight lipped on details regarding Diablo III’s release. While the news of a rough release timeline came out of a conference call yesterday, it only pin-points that the worst we will be waiting is until the end of June 2012. Just in time then for a summer of hell as gamers throughout the world journey to the depths of Hades to take on the demons below.
There have been more recent rumblings that the final game will be vastly different to the Closed Beta released late last year, such as simplifying identifying special weapons/items and the flat out removal of items that would have allowed players to buy/sell items while in dungeons. They may seem like odd choices, but wise ones.
Console versions are rumoured, but Blizzard aren’t willing to spill any beans until the PC version is done… when it’s done!
Some of you out there may not be too excited, which given the fact Blizzard have set their eyes on World of Warcraft for many years and more recently a return to the Starcraft series (in spectacular ways I might add). The trailer shown at the VGA’s had me excited all over again like a trainspotter finding an old steam train rolling out of Paddington Station.
Knowing Blizzard, they’ll probably take as much time as required to make sure that when it finally releases, real money auction house, warts and all, it will be the best it possibly can be. All we want is a date to book off work! This version of Diablo III at least will be exclusively to PCs.

I’m so strangely curious about this title even though I’ve not touched the franchise thus far. I think it’s the subtle shift in my tastes maturing as time marches on.
I really hope it’ll be wonderful as I can see myself throwing down the necessary readies for it.
I personally would rather the game be delayed and released when it is 100% rather then getting released and still having buggs etc. As you have said it has been pinned to Q2 this year so either april-may-june, but previously blizz ahve said “early 2012″ release so imo april announcement for june release!
