Velocity Brings Bullet Hell Shooters To PS Mini Service

There have been many genres that have fallen out of favour for consumers in the past twenty years or so, but none have seen quite the dramatic downfall as the top down space shooter. “Bullet Hell” shooters themselves have seen a resurgence in the past few years, thanks to the re-release of cult classic Ikaruga and the first non-Japanese outing for Radiant Silvergun. Others such as the chaotic DonDonPachi games have been an intimidating force in native Japan for years, but are just surfacing in other territories.

Futurlab have released a trailer for their title which will be released on the PS Mini selection of games, Velocity. As you can see from the trailer, the unique aspect here is the ability to teleport combined with a smooth difficulty curve that won’t intimidate as much as most Bullet Hell shooters of more recent times.

The result looks like a very fun arcade style game that, given it will be released on the PS Mini service, won’t break the bank. Velocity will be made “available soon” on the PlayStation Store (PS Mini section), and will be playable on PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable and the soon to be released PlayStation Vita.
