Last year, we brought you some news regarding the Japanese reveal of not only a Persona 4 PlayStation Vita re-release, but also a brand new collaboration with Arc Systemworks (famous for the BlazBlue and Guilty Gear series) for a new Persona themed fighting game. Early videos and screens have given us a tantalasing look at this oddball fighter, but there were doubts it would make it outside of Japan.
Those doubts have been officially stamped to oblivion as Atlus has revealed that the game formerly known as Persona 4: The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena will be released in North America in the summer, under the name Persona 4 Arena. According to their announcement, the game will come with console exclusive features such as a brand new story mode and console only online multiplayer modes. They also confirmed that the roster will include characters from both Persona 3 & Persona 4.
So there we have it. Speculation over for fans of the Persona series at least. We still have no word on whether American or European PlayStation Vitas will see Persona 4: The Golden, but in all honesty it seems more likely to be released in America with the revelation of the oddball fighter crossing borders. There is no release date as of yet, though retailers are currently speculating an early August release for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Now we just need to hope Europeans will also be treated to the madness.
